I first heard about capsule wardrobes about a year ago when I started falling in love with minimalism. A capsule wardrobe is basically a simplified closet, full of essentials and pieces that are easy to mix and match. It’s about having quality items to wear, over quantity!
I’ve slowly turned my closet into a capsule wardrobe by only keeping a few of my favorite tops, jeans, shorts, and shoes. All my items are neutral- they are easily mixed and matched to create lots of different outfits. Now it’s time to do Gracie’s closet. Because of my job as a brand photographer + blogger, we have accumulated TONS of clothes. Lots of these items are things Gracie has only worn once- either because they are too fancy or they are seasonal. I just got done cleaning out her whole closet and donating her clothes to a friend. What’s left in her closet are ESSENTIALS, mostly clothes from Carter’s new Little Baby Basics line.

To start a capsule wardrobe for your little one, I first recommend stocking up on the basics from Carter’s. I got so many adorable neutral onesies that go with everything. They are so cute, yet extremely simple (my style exactly!). You can get patterned bodysuits or even the basic white bodysuit. Whatever style you like, Carter’s has it! I love how their bodysuits come in sets. This makes doing a capsule wardrobe so easy! Doing a capsule wardrobe is perfect for all ages from babies to toddlers! It’s always good to have basics for your little ones!
Having a baby changes things. Instead of spending 2 hours at the mall slowly trying on things for myself, I now find myself at Carter’s shopping for Gracie! LOL! Carter’s understands that life is unpredictable. That’s why they made the basics line. This is everything you need for all the changes in life.
One tip for starting a capsule wardrobe is to stick with a color scheme. This way you can make tons of outfits out of not that many clothes!
Other Tips for a Capsule Wardrobe for your little one:
1+ Seek out QUALITY items that last – This is why I go to Carter’s for our basics. They have the BEST quality bodysuits that are guaranteed to last for a long time.
3+ Hang up your kids clothes! I always prefer hanging Gracie’s clothes. I feel like they last longer, but this might just be my theory. I also just think baby clothes are so much cuter hung!
