I don’t think I’ve ever been this excited to share a product before! But, for real guys! This product WILL change your life. It’s the FIRST WASHABLE mattress for kids. And it’s amazing. It’s from Washabelle.
I once read this DISGUSTING article about how dirty our mattresses are, and it GROSSES me out. If you’re eating, don’t read it. But if you want to see what’s really living inside that bed, read it here. Anyways, our beds are gross. It’s literally a feeding ground for bacteria. And there’s not really a great way to clean a bed. I once saw a thing on pinterest that said to pour baking soda (or was it baking powder? I always mix those up) all over you mattress. First of all, that’s NASTY. That stuff smells. Then your supposed to vacuum it up. Like what? That’s not going to get rid of those sick germs in the bed.
Ok, so sort of a tangent there. But this is why I’m obsessed with Washabelle. They literally created a bed that you can WASH. Yes, I said wash- like in the washing machine. And guess what!? You can put it in the DRYER TOO! This is revolutionary.
The Washabelle mattress is so simple to wash. You can see exactly how it’s done here. But basically, you unzip it, wash the layers separately as needed, then tumble dry!
Washabelle is made to grow with your kids. It’s a twin size mattress. For a toddler (Like our Gracie girl!), you can just put it right on the floor. As they grow, you can put it on a bed frame! It’s the perfect bed!
I have not washed our Washabelle yet! But am I planning to? UM, YES!!! First, I need to test it out and see if it really is as easy as it says. Second, I’m sure when Gracie starts potty training, we are going to have A. LOT. OF. ACCIDENTS. This is when our Washabelle will truly be a lifesaver. I really hate those plastic overlay things that go on beds. They are uncomfortable and weird. There will definitely be a part two of this blog post. I will go into a lot more detail on washing the mattress and give my reviews on how it goes! So stay tuned!
I’ve gotten a lot of questions about the mattress, and one of them is always “IS IT COMFY?!”. Oh my gosh.. this bed is SO comfy. My husband and I have a VERY EXPENSIVE Tempurpedic memory foam bed. We love it and we sleep amazing on it. Guess what? Gracie’s bed is literally comfier. I’m not kidding. The Washabelle bed is extremely soft, yet supportive. It is important to note it does have a weight limit. It’s made for sleepers 25-110 pounds. I weigh around 120 lbs, and when I sleep on it (yes… I do sleep on it often), I sink a tiny bit, but it’s still supportive. It’s perfect for Gracie.
Gracie sleeps amazing on her bed. A bit of the backstory with Gracie’s sleep: she never slept in her crib. She slept a few months in her bassinet, then she ended up co-sleeping with us because I was breastfeeding. It was the best solution in that time because she would NOT sleep in her crib. She did end up sleeping in her pack and play for a few months, but always ended up in our bed. When we got the Washabelle, Gracie was 16 months. Like I said earlier, we have a Tempurpedic bed, so she was super used to that soft mattress. She INSTANTLY loved the Washabelle. Also, the transition was seamless because she was already used to sleeping on a mattress as opposed to a crib. And, our bed is SUPER low to the ground, so she was used to a floor bed, too.
The first time I put her in her Washabelle bed was for a nap. She fell asleep within 5 minutes, and slept for 3 hours straight. She didn’t roll out, but I was nervous so I put a few blankets and pillows around LOL! That night, she slept in the Washabelle bed by herself. She did end up rolling out once but actually stayed asleep on the ground (I made it super comfy). I moved her back to her big girl bed, and she slept until morning.
Update: It’s been 2 months of sleeping in her Washabelle bed. She sleeps every day for 2 hours in her bed. She never rolls out during her naps. At night, she sleeps like a champ, but does roll out every now and then. Sometimes she will wake up and sometimes she won’t. If she wakes up, I go in there and move her back. This is when sometimes I’ll end up falling asleep. I’m telling you the bed is SO comfy that it carries you into a deep sleep LOL!! But overall, Gracie is DOING AMAZING! I believe she transitioned so well because this bed is so comfy. I love how it looks on the floor. Gracie calls it her “big girl bed” and whenever she is tired she just tells us “big girl bed!”.
I love it!!! I recommend this bed to EVERYONE. Not only is it the FIRST washable bed, but it’s also the COMFIEST bed ever. Another perk is not having to deal with any pushy mattress people. Just go online, and purchase. No sales people to bother you! And if you do ever have any problems, the people at Washabelle are AMAZING!!!!
The mattress comes in a box. It’s super easy to set up. Here is a video of Gracie and I unboxing our mattress!
*I received the Washabelle mattress for free- for the purpose of my honest opinion & review.
