How to throw a lumberjack birthday party

How to throw a lumberjack themed birthday party!

Last year, we threw Donovan the cutest lumberjack birthday party for his FIRST BIRTHDAY! I was just starting to plan his 2nd birthday, when I realized I never shared his cute party theme from last year! So here is a peek inside our super LAST MINUTE lumberjack themed party!

First, a quick hack. Donovan turned 1 right after Christmas. So I actually left up all of our Christmas trees, but I took down all of the ornaments. This way, it just looked like forest trees! It really set the “lumberjack” mood in the house! And it was super easy because the trees were already up, LOL!

Another great hack for a lumberjack themed party is to use brown paper lunch bags to hold all the party snacks. Just take a brown paper bag and roll the top down. It’s actually cuter the messier it is!

Another hack is to label the snacks in cute ways.

For the background of our party table, I used buffalo plaid wrapping paper over our mirror!

Of course, with every party, you need a super sentimental sign – right?

To fit the woodsy theme, we had a crockpot going with some chili. I also got some little decorations from hobby lobby that I put on the cabinets!

We added a little buffalo plaid banner to Donovan’s high chair and it turned out SO cute!

And of course – the cake! To fit the theme, just make a simple tree trunk cake with chocolate frosting!

This was SUCH a fun party theme, and actually super simple to decorate for! Tag me @gracefulmommy on instagram if you’re doing a lumberjack party! I would love to see what you come up with!

Toddlerwearing – My Favorite Way to Carry My Baby

Toddlerwearing - The best way to carry a toddler!

The last couple of months I have been really sore in my lower back. I am not sure exactly what I did that started bothering it, but after visiting a chiropractor I knew I needed to change a few things. One of the things that stood out to me the most is that my back may be hurting because of the way I hold my son, Donovan! First of all, he’s a BIG boy. He weighs over 30 pounds and whenever I would hold him, I’d have to stick out my hip so he could have a spot to sit on me. This is NOT good for the back. Anyways, I wanted to share this AMAZING new product that I’ve been using! It’s called the 2-In-1 carrier + hip seat from Moby and it’s a lifesaver for me (+ my back!!).

The new Moby 2-in-1 Carrier and Hip Seat combines the support of a standard ergonomic baby carrier with the simple carrying assistance of a hip seat in one convenient baby wearing product! It’s the perfect baby gear solution for parenting transitions and adapts as your little one grows.

What I love about the Moby is that this carrier has 4 carrier options: front-inward, hip, front-outward & back and then 3 Hip seat options: front-inward, front-outward & hip! My favorite way to carry Donovan is the Hip seat on my hip. I can easily pick Donovan up and put him down when he wants. But I have the amazing support from the seat.

The hip seat has a hard structure so it’s super supportive but also comfortable for both mom + baby! I bring this thing everywhere – especially when I know Donovan will want to be carried for part of the time. Just the other day, my mom and I took the kids to the park and the beach and the hip seat came in handy so much! I love that by wearing the hip seat I don’t have to stick my hip out to carry Donovan. It really has been helping my back!

My mom also loves it, LOL! It’s a great way for Grandparents to hold babies, too!

OUR FAMILY VALUES

Our family values // The reason we vaccinate

The kids absolutely LOVE going to the park! It’s something that we try to do everyday! I think I need the vitamin D as much as they want to have fun sliding down the slides, swinging on the swings, and going on the seesaw.

It’s so amazing looking back throughout the years and remembering Gracie as a 6 month old (she could barely walk but still wanted to slide down the slide). Now that Donovan is 1 years old, he is all over the place! I bet he would climb on the monkey bars if he could reach them!

Our family values // The reason we vaccinate

One of the neatest things I get to experience as a mom is not only seeing my kids have fun and be healthy, but also interacting with other kids. For me, it’s just so important that they get that social element in their early developmental years. And both of the kids continue to shock me when they play with other kids because I get to see sides of them that I don’t see normally.

Our family values // The reason we vaccinate

I know that the park and friendships are just normal, every day things, but they represent something larger. Our family values consist of doing new things, traveling, and building relationships. And because of that, I always make sure my kids are as healthy as possible. This is one reason why I decided to vaccinate – because for me, it’s a peace of mind knowing that they remain healthy when they are at the park and around other kids. I try to do as much as I can to protect them (I mean I carry 3 cases of hand sanitizer with me at all times – lol) and vaccines are an important part of that. Vaccines make babies and kids strong from the inside out.
