I tried Whole30® and here’s how it went!

The holiday season is over (how did that happen so fast?!). And it’s pretty cliche to start a new health challenge or fitness routine, but there is something about a new year that makes you want to reset and start something new. I wanted to share my experience with the Whole30® program and how using Ball® mason jars makes my experience even better!

The Whole30® program is a great way to reset and help you clean up some eating habits. What you do is cut out certain foods like dairy, sugar, grains, legumes, and alcohol. The things you can eat include: meat, poultry, fish, veggies, fruits, and fats (yay avocados!).

I started the Whole30® this month and I’m already loving it! I didn’t do it to lose weight, but rather get my energy levels up and have more effective workouts and improved sleep. I love that this diet is not a typical diet of counting calories and doing a point system. It’s not really a diet at all. It’s more about discovering amazing meals and recipes with whole foods.

I love making recipes on Whole30®. The best way to do the Whole30® is with a bunch of Ball® Mason jars. I love the Ball® jars for literally everything. We use them as drinking glasses, for food storage, and even toy storage every now and then. But my favorite way to use the Ball® jars is for my Whole30® recipes. When you are running out the door or heading on a picnic with the kids (my life every day, LOL!), a Whole30® recipe in a Ball® jar is my GO-TO. Ball® Jars are available at Walmart, too! Plus I love that they come in tons of different sizes, perfect for any recipe. They are also earth-friendly, versatile, and durable (not to mention, stylish!). You can actually earn $1 off any 4pk or 12pk of Ball® jars with ibotta!

Salads are a great Whole30® recipe to throw in the Ball® jars. A great tip is to put the dressing in first, and then layer the salad ingredients on top so everything stays fresh!

Another recipe I love to throw in my Ball® mason jar is scrambled eggs and turkey sausage. It’s so easy to throw together and it’s so delicious. You can add so many other ingredients to this to spice it up too. Like, mushrooms, sweet potatoes, or peppers! Even though the jars look compact, you can really pack a lot of nutrients into one!

A great Whole30® lunch idea is a baked potato soup! Did you know that white potatoes are officially apart of the Whole30® program – yaaaas! So comforting in this season! For this lunch recipe, I used onion, chopped garlic, and cubed potatoes. Then I added 4 cups of bone broth to the pan and simmered this for 15 minutes. Mix in almond milk and coconut cream and stir all of this together. I pureed this all together and mmmmm it was SOOO delicious!

Another go-to recipe I love to throw in the Ball® mason jars is a white chicken chili! This is SO delicious and so easy to take on the go or simply just to my office while I finish up work! What I love about the Ball® jars is that they make it so simple to meal prep. I can stock up on chicken chili by filling up a ton of jars for the week.

Since being on the Whole30® program, I’ve felt so amazing and I am already so proud of my accomplishments! I really think this program leads to great healthy habits and a lot of new recipe ideas! I don’t like to use a scale, but I love seeing benefits of certain habits that are not related to a weight or number. I definitely have more energy, I’m sleeping better, my hair feels awesome, I’m handling stress better, I can lift heavier weights, and I love that I can share these fun healthy recipes with my family.
