Gracie’s First Christmas

Gracie's First Christmas!

Gracie’s first Christmas was awesome! I can’t believe how much changes in a year. Last year at Christmas, we told our extended family that we were expecting! This year, we have our 6 month old cutie pie with us. I just can’t get over it!!

Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve was spent at my mom-in-law’s house! We had lots of people over, ate cuban food, played white elephant, and had lots of fun! My mom and dad and aunt and uncle (who just moved to FL) all came too! I loved having everyone together. We missed our cousins Jen + Brandon and baby Grayson (he was sick!). Here are some pictures from Gracie’s first Christmas Eve!

Christmas Day

Dave and I loved waking up with Gracie on her first Christmas. We made breakfast and Gracie opened up her gifts from Santa! We relaxed and hung out for a while… then went back to bed! Later, we went to grandma and grandpa’s (Dave’s parents) to open presents!

Then, more family came over! Gracie’s great Grandma and Grandpa were down from Gainesville- she loved seeing them! We missed Great Grandpa John on Christmas Day (he was sick!).

Christmas Activities

Christmas activities for baby's first Christmas!

Can you believe Christmas Eve is TOMORROW? What! Just craziness. Anyways- Gracie and I have been super busy getting Christmas gifts together. She’s been loving going shopping with mommy and watching mommy wrap. Her favorite thing lately is trying to grab and crumble up the wrapping paper. So cute. I think she’s really gonna love opening her presents! We’ve been doing some other fun Christmas activities, too! We are checking things off our BUCKET LIST!

Gingerbread House

We built a gingerbread house while Gracie sat in her Chicco high chair and watched! It’s so cute to see Gracie so observant now. She literally watches everything I do! I think it’s so adorable. I haven’t built a gingerbread house in like forever. So that was fun! It was actually a little bit harder than I thought!

Decorate

We finally decorated our place for Christmas! We put up our tiny tree, stockings, and some lights and other decorations. I also put all my Christmas books up (the ones from teaching!). I’ve started reading some of my favorites to Gracie. Christmas decorations can truly transform the living space. It’s so cozy now! I LOVE IT! We put on Christmas music while we decorated. It was a lot of fun! Gracie loves music. And loves to look at the tree.

Christmas Lights

We took Gracie through the drive through Christmas Festival of Lights. It’s a huge park where they put tons of beautiful Christmas displays and lights. It takes about 10-15 minutes to drive through. They also give you these 3D glasses to wear and it makes the lights look crazy. I don’t really think Gracie was that interested in the whole lights thing, but she seemed to have fun looking at everyone in the car!

Also, as we were waiting in line to buy the tickets, a Santa was walking down the line of cars greeting the kids. Is this not the FREAKIEST Santa picture you’ve ever seen?

Santa Visit

Speaking of Santas… we took Gracie to see a real santa! Well, not “real”, but better than the Santa above. This Santa was at a mall. We had to wait one hour to see him! Gracie actually slept the whole time in line. Then, she woke up right before seeing Santa! I thought for sure she was going to cry, but she didn’t!!! She was super calm, kept looking at Santa, and held onto the white fur part of his coat. It was seriously the CUTEST. I hope I don’t forget to do a Santa picture every year.

Christmas Cookies

Every year, my mom and I would bake Christmas cookies. It’s probably one of our longest traditions. We go all out and make tons of different kinds. It ends up being a huge long day. It seems like every year, we keep adding more and more people to the tradition! I love it! And this year was Gracie’s first time cookie baking! We baked cookies at my Aunt’s new condo this year (so fun!). Gracie ended up sleeping for most of the baking extravaganza, but it was lots of fun! Christmas activities for baby's first Christmas! Naughty and Nice Baby Products

Naughty and nice list of baby products! Great advice! At gracefulmommy.com

Naughty and nice list of baby products! Great advice! At gracefulmommy.com

I’ve been a mommy for 5 and a half months. During this time, I’ve tried tons of baby products. I’ve bought some myself and received some as gifts. I quickly realized there are some items that I absolutely love + then there are those that I can’t stand! Here is my 2015 naughty + nice list:

THE NICE LIST

Honest Company hand sanitizer spray // Ah- this stuff is amazing! I don’t really know why I love it so much. I think spraying hand sanitizer is just more fun than squirting it? Who knows. But we’ve been through so many bottles of this. It was perfect when Gracie was a newborn because it’s easy to pass around to everyone before they held her! I love keeping a bottle in my diaper bag, too.

Dreft // This baby detergent smells delicious. It also is supposed to be sensitive for babies and not cause any irritation. It seems to work for Gracie! Plus it actually helps me not totally hate laundry.

White noise machine // This machine really comes in handy! It is a clip-on, portable white noise maker. We use it for every nap and every night. I really think it helps Gracie sleep better. It has 4 different sounds. I like the ocean sound the most- it’s so relaxing! Plus this thing is only 10$.

Halo sleep sack swaddles // These have been a lifesaver! Gracie is 5 months old and still loves to be swaddled. I still swaddle her for naps and at night. Although, I think it may be time to transition out of these. Darn. Seriously though… when Gracie is tired, I swaddle her in this and she instantly falls asleep. Ok, maybe not instantly, but it takes less than 5 minutes.

Aden + Anais swaddles // I don’t actually use these for swaddling, but I use them for everything else. I always have one in my diaper bag. I just counted how many I own…15. We have 15 of these. Wow. This swaddle makes a perfect nursing cover. It’s also the best blanket for Gracie. It’s not too hot and it is super soft. I also them as burp cloths, a car seat cover, and even a tummy time blanket.

Tommee Tippee pacifiers // This has been Gracie’s favorite pacifier. She loves them! I like them better than the soothie ones because they aren’t as big. They don’t cover her nose like other pacifiers. They also stay in better and she doesn’t get as frustrated with them.

THE NAUGHTY LIST

Huggies diapers // The worst. Ugh. These diapers leak the most and have had the most poop explosions (and i’ve tried many different kinds). They do not fit Gracie right. And I hate the green color of them. YUCK.

Honest Company soothing bottom wash // I love everything Honest Company- except this. I bought this at Target one day, then I looked up the reviews on Amazon. Horrible reviews. People said that this spray burned their baby’s butt! I immediately returned it.

Desitin // This diaper rash cream smells horrible. I literally almost threw up when I used it. The worst part is- I could still smell it on my hands after washing them 4 times. Instead- I use Honest Company Healing Balm.

Boppy pillow // This pillow seems like a good idea, but it’s kind of unnecessary. I thought I would love it for nursing Gracie, but it’s way easier to grab any other pillow around. Plus, the Boppy pillow is too low to really work while breastfeeding.

Nursing infinity scarf // I got this as a nursing cover for when I breastfeed Gracie in public. I think it’s adorable and so cute, but Gracie hates it… so it’s on the naughty list. It’s too hot and doesn’t give her enough space to eat.

Pajamas with snaps // Why are these even allowed to be made? Just buy the ones with zippers. I officially hate anything with snaps.

What would you add to the naughty or nice list? I would love to hear what products you’ve been loving (+ maybe not loving so much).
